Expression of Interest for District Ombudsperson under MGNREGS in Mayurbhanj District

The Zilla Parishad, Mayurbhanj has invited Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the position of District Ombudsperson under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS). This position plays a vital role in ensuring transparency, accountability, and effective grievance redressal in the implementation of MGNREGS within the district.

The appointment will be for a period of 2 years, extendable up to one year twice (based on performance appraisal) or until the candidate attains 68 years of age, whichever is earlier. Reappointment is not allowed.

Eligibility Criteria for District Ombudsperson

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Must be a person of eminent standing and impeccable integrity.
• At least 10 years of experience in Public Administration, Law, Academics, Social Work, or Management.
• Experience in working with community organizations or people’s institutions is mandatory.
• Should not be affiliated with any political party or banned organization (declaration required).
• Must be physically active and capable of conducting field visits in rural areas.
• Preference will be given to residents of Mayurbhanj or neighboring districts.
• Maximum age: 65 years as on 31st July 2025.

Appointment & Tenure

• Appointment will be made by the State Government on recommendations of the District Selection Committee.
• Tenure: 2 years (extendable by one year at a time, up to a maximum of two extensions).

Remuneration

• ₹2250 per sitting (subject to a maximum of ₹45,000 per month).
• The number of sittings will depend on the requirement.

Removal

If the performance of the Ombudsperson is found unsatisfactory, the State Government may remove the incumbent based on recommendations of the Selection Committee.
