Job Description

Junior Overman – Responsible for supervising mining operations, ensuring safety compliance, and coordinating with mining teams in both open-cast and underground mines.

Mining Sirdar – Oversees underground and open-cast mining operations, manages workforce, ensures adherence to Coal Mines Regulations 2017, and maintains operational safety standards.

Surveyor – Conducts geological surveys, maintains mining records, and ensures accurate mapping of mining areas.

Translator – Provides translation services and administrative support in clerical roles.

Technician (Pathology) – Conducts pathological tests and maintains laboratory operations.

Eligibility Criteria

Education Qualification

• Junior Overman & Mining Sirdar: Senior Secondary (10+2) or Intermediate examination from a recognized board OR Diploma/Degree in Mining Engineering. Additionally, candidates must possess a valid Mining Sirdarship Certificate of Competency (Un-Restricted) from DGMS under Coal Mines Regulation 2017.
• Surveyor: Degree in relevant field with technical qualifications.
• Translator: B.A. with Hindi & English.
• Technician (Pathology): Diploma in Pathology from recognized institute.

• Minimum Age: 18 years
• Maximum Age: 30 years as on April 6, 2026

Selection Process

The MCL recruitment follows a single-stage selection process based entirely on Computer-Based Test (CBT):

• Computer-Based Test (CBT) – Objective-type multiple choice questions in English and Hindi with no negative marking
• Section A: General Awareness & Aptitude
• Section B: Technical Knowledge (post-specific)
• Merit-Based Shortlisting – Shortlisted candidates in the ratio of 1:3 based on CBT performance
• Document Verification – Verification of age, qualifications, certificates, and other credentials
• Initial Medical Examination (IME) – Conducted by MCL’s own doctors; findings are final
• Final Selection & Offer of Appointment – Based on merit list with consideration of Government of India’s reservation policy

Qualifying Marks (CBT)

• General/EWS Candidates: 45 marks (45% of 100)
• OBC(NCL) Candidates: 40 marks (40% of 100)
• SC/ST Candidates: 35 marks (35% of 100)
